self-care-ways-to-boost-fertility

Are you currently preparing for pregnancy or undergoing processes such as IUI or IVF? We introduce two self-care fertility methods for women at this stage, which are foot baths and moxibustion, both of which can be easily done at home.

For women at this stage, incorporating these two habits to enhance fertility into their live, along with a healthy diet, a relaxed mind, and moderate exercise, can help improve the body’s blood circulation and enhance the quality of eggs.

  1.  Foot Bath

When to do: Once a day, usually before showering.

Duration: 10 to 15 minutes

The soaking should be done at room temperature.

Avoid soaking during menstruation.

What you need:

  • A bucket of warm water (level reaching below the calves or knees)
  • Optional: Salt or moxa (mugwort)

How to do:

Soak your feet in comfortably warm water (as high as possible). After about 10 minutes, you should start feeling your body warming up and sweating. Some people may feel a faster heartbeat, especially if you’re just starting foot baths.

Once you start sweating, stop soaking. After soaking, avoid staying immediately in air-conditioned rooms or windy places, as the pores of the skin are open and can easily catch a cold. If your clothes get wet, change them promptly to avoid catching a cold. Shower again after about half an hour after foot bath.

  1.  Moxibustion

When to do: Several times a week or as frequently as possible. Do it after showering or at any time during the day, but avoid water contact within 2 hours after surgery.

Duration: 30 to 45 minutes per session.

What you need: Moxa stick, lighter, glass jar extinguisher.

Acupoints and areas:

  • Yong Quan                                Yong-Quan-Moxibustion
  • palm area around umbilicus Umbilicus-Moxibustion
  • Back area                                   Back-Area-Moxibustion

How to do:

  • Light the moxa stick, which is about 2 centimeters long, and place it about 2 centimeters away from the skin, making circular motions.
  • When the area becomes warm and slightly red, change to a different area and repeat for several rounds.
  • Watch out for ash; regularly dust off ash to prevent it from falling onto the skin and causing blisters.
  • Place the tip of the stick into the glass jar, seal the jar, and extinguish the fire.
