Foods to Avoid with Gout

Gout is also known as “court disease”. With the rich diet, the number of people suffering from Gout has increased in recent year. To prevent Gout, the following foods can cause Gout and should be paid attention:  

 

① Avoid foods high in fructose and sweetness

When the fructose level in the blood increases, which can lead to a rapid increase in uric acid of blood uric acid and urine.

 

② Eat less seasoning

It is no problem to eat oil, salt, sauce and vinegar, but should avoid Condiments high in purines such as chicken essence, concentrated chicken juice and caviar which are not recommended for consumption.

 

③ Coffee and tea aggravate Gout

Although strong tea or coffee do not increase purines, they have the effect of stimulating the autonomic nerves, which may aggravate Gout and induce an acute attack of Gout.

 

④ Do not drink wine

Alcohol promotes purine absorption which aggravate gout, although red and white wines do not contain purines.

 

⑤ Eat less seed foods

Foods like cauliflower, plant seeds and dried fruits are also high in purine content.

 

⑥ Eat less beans

Many legumes are high purine, such as soybeans, lentils. Purine is a hydrophilic substance, the purine content in soybean is several times higher than other soy products when it is ground into pulp. For people with Gout, they should drink less soy milk.

 

⑦ Eat less offal and fish

These food are not suitable for people with Gout, such as offal, sardines, anchovies,mackerel and shrimp.

 

Advice to improve your Gout

 

  • Increase water intake;
  • Reduce foods that increase uric acid levels;
  • Consume a diet that is rich in calcium and antioxidants;
  • Calcium-rich fruits and vegetables such as bananas, avocados, green vegetables;
  • Fruits rich in Vitamin C;
  • Avoid soft drinks, processed foods and refined sugars;
  • Avoid greasy and fried foods;
  • Exercise regularly;
  • Have 2-3 cups of stinging nettle tea daily.
